Crime Victim Rights
You have the right to have any recovered stolen or other personal property returned to you by law enforcement agencies as quickly as possible when it is no longer needed for evidence. You may contact Victim/Witness Assistance in the District Attorney's Office for further information.
You have the right to have restitution ordered by a court. It is important that you gather and keep accurate documentation about your losses.
You may provide statements concerning the sentencing, disposition or parole of the offender. Contact the Victim/Witness Coordinator in the District Attorney's Office for further information.
The Crime Victim Compensation Program may be available to help you pay for unreimbursed out-of-pocket expenses (such as, medical bills and lost wages) which directly result from the crime even if there is no arrest or conviction. It is not available for property damage or loss. You may contact the Wisconsin Department of Justice for more information.
Threats or Intimidation
If you are subject to threats or intimidation arising from your case and/or cooperation with law endorsement and prosecuting efforts relating to this crime, contact the Clintonville Police Department. If it is an emergency situation and you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Case Status
If you have questions about the status of your case, you can contact the law enforcement agency handling your case. They can provide you with basic information about any arrests which may have been made and/or the investigative status of the case.
If an ADULT person has been arrested and incarcerated in connection with this case, you may call the county jail to find out if the person has been released from jail.
If the case is referred to the District Attorney's Office for possible prosecution, the District Attorney's Office will try to contact you with additional information including if charges will be filed and your right to attend court proceedings and to discuss the case with the prosecutor. You may contact the district attorney's office for more information about your rights.
Cases involving JUVENILE offenders will be referred to a juvenile intake worker at the County Department of Health/Human Services. You may call the intake worker to find out if the juvenile has been released. The intake worker will try to contact you with additional information, including your right to discuss the case with the intake worker and to receive notices of court proceedings. You may contact the intake worker for more information about your rights.

Basic Information about the Wisconsin Crime Victim Compensation Program
Who is Eligible?
An innocent victim who suffers injury from a crime.
A dependent or legal representative of an innocent victim who has been killed as a result of a crime.
A person who is injured while aiding a crime victim or helping a police officer.
A person who suffers a reaction from the death of a family or household member.
Persons who are injured in automobile accidents caused by drunk drivers.
What Compensation May be Paid
Injury or death benefit up to $40,000.
Medical, hospital, surgical, pharmacy, and mental health expenses.
Lost wages.
Loss of support to dependents of victim.
Reasonable replacement value for property held as evidence or made unusable by lab testing.
Reasonable costs for securing and cleaning a crime scene up to $ 1,000.
Cost of homemaker services.
Funeral services up to $2,000.
* The victim must not have caused or contributed to the crime and must cooperate with law enforcement officials to be eligible. Other restrictions and eligibility requirements may apply.
